Hello,

This is less of a review and more of a message for the dev. If he or she is reading this, I apologize for any awkwardness created by me posting this here. To my knowledge, itch.io does not yet have a private messaging system, and I do not possess a Patreon account. If I had either, I would use them to share you this in private. It would not clog up the comments section on this page and would ease my nerves in knowing that my thoughts would not be aired publicly. While this game's Discord server might have been a possibility, large Discord servers frankly terrify me. Again, I apologize for any awkwardness created by posting this here.

I will begin by giving my praise for Oppai Odyssey.  This game is quality, a clear product of hard work and dedication. The setpieces, models, and animations are marvelous to behold. The writing for the plot and characters, as well as for the setting itself, are an apparent priority in development--something that has been greatly appreciated by yours truly. These characters feel like they are real people, going at first from excited greenhorns, to confident adventurers, and then to wounded survivors in over their heads yet determined to see their journey through. Lym is my personal favorite, probably followed by Nyx and Sybil, but I love all of the cast featured so far. It is a refreshing and satisfying experience.

There is a point of concern that I feel I must share. It is one of the more recent additions to the game, Sybil's birthday event. I did not like it. I realize that the opinion of a stranger online is not a particularly commanding authority, and I cannot even begin to imagine the hours you spent crafting the scenes for it. Still, as a fan, I feel that I should share my criticisms to you in honesty and good charity.

When I played the event yesterday afternoon, I did not enjoy it. I found myself skipping through the party scenes and make-overs and risque shots. They all felt wrong. Eventually, I stopped at the point where Sybil calls the MC and exited the game. Everything felt wrong. The reason why was simple. Lym. I understand that her insistence on a girls' only party was meant to come off as teasing, but it didn't to me. It came off as petty, mean-spirited even. She's betting with Sybil that the MC doesn't remember her birthday (which she and Dr. Clermont had been planning for, so she had every opportunity to tell the MC--who led the rescue mission to save Sybil!), makes him feel guilty about it, and then says that he can't attend Sybil's party--without really bothering to ask Sybil's opinion.  This didn't feel like Lym, the MC's best friend and partner. Granted, their relationship has been tested of late. The MC has clearly kept important information from her, and has even been shown to take advantage of her desire to please him in giving her extra work. Even so, Lym's portrayal in that event comes off as very OOC. It would be a jump for her to go from being hurt by the MC not telling her about the dragon gel to how she acts in the birthday event. It's not an impossible jump. Maybe she's still hurt by that and has grown a bit resentful towards the MC for it. But we don't get any indication of it onscreen. Granted, I could be wrong. Maybe she was feeling a bit too smug in that moment and didn't mean it. Maybe I'm overanalyzing this and it was just intended to be teasing. Personally,  I can't match that second guess up with what's portrayed. There was too much of an edge in her actions to be simple teasing.

What compounded this was the MC brushing it off.  There wasn't even an option to get snippy or storm off, he just accepts it. That just doesn't sit right with me. I won't lie, I did feel hurt when Lym said that (which is a credit to your ability to making characters that players will care for FWIW). Maybe I'm  oversensitive, but I would be upset and ticked off with Lym were I the MC. I don't see a reason why I'm the only human being that would have that reaction, either. It would be selfish, presumptuous, and immature, but haven't we all had moments like that in our lives? It would certainly lead to interesting places for the MC's characterization and his relationship with Lym. Imagine the guilt that the both of them would feel, mixed with wounded pride and the genuine love they have for each other. Would they try to kiss and make up at some point? Imagine how Sybil would react to this. Would she even want to celebrate after seeing the MC lash out at Lym, probably her two closest companions on the Agni? Would she try comforting the MC and sharing that she considers him the only person on the Agni who sees her for herself, just as she says in the event? There are no small number of possibilities that could be explored.

You have no obligation to do so, and please forgive me for any offense committed in saying this, but I would strongly recommend at least a second look at the event with what I have said in mind. I know that you are a busy person and I applaud your dedication to this title. I apologize if my concerns were poorly articulated or my words too harsh. If you are reading this, thank you for all of your work and for reading this.

Best wishes!
